Belgrade, March 5, 2021 - The Belgrade Dance Festival from March 23 will provide the audience with the opportunity to enjoy live performances by many choreographers and troupes, with the general sponsorship of the company Visa, which has been supporting this cultural event for the fourth year in a row.
Principles and Soloists of the New York City Ballet will perform at the Serbian National Theater in Novi Sad and at the Yugoslav Drama Theatre in Belgrade. Famous choreographers such as Dimitris Papajoanu, Adi Butrus, Akram Khan will perform at the 18th Belgrade Dance Festival, and fans of modern dance will also enjoy performances by the Zapala Danca Company, tanzmainz and the famous Piping Tom company.
In order for the audience to be able to enjoy their performances, it is necessary to provide all steps to comply with the security measures due to the pandemic and the "new normality". One of them is the possibility of online purchase of tickets, which is a process provided by the company Visa, so that everyone can quickly and easily get to their place in the halls.
"Every year the Festival pushes the boundaries thanks to its content, outstanding performers and new techniques. We are looking forward to have the opportunity to see so many world greats of the artistic dance this time as well. Despite the challenging times, we are glad that people recognize it and that more tickets have been sought for each of the performances. As a company which supports innovation, we have made an effort to enable safe and secure online ticket purchase, thus developing the digital presence of the Festival, and we are planning future projects that will contribute to that in the coming months. At the same time, by supporting the Belgrade Dance Festival, we want to contribute to positive changes in society and give people the opportunity to enjoy top art," said Vladimir Djordjevic, general manager of Visa for Southeast Europe, which has been the longtime patron of this festival.
The director of the Belgrade Dance Festival Aja Jung stated she is happy that the Festival starts with a play called "Normal..." and pointed out that she wants everything to be just like that. "The fact that we have an audience is the result of our work. About twenty years of work. This is the audience which has been waiting for some performances for more than a year", said Aja Jung at the conference which announced the beginning of the Festival.
In order for the Festival to get the attention it deserves, the media, as one of the key partners in the organization, are also important. That is why this year, Visa and the Belgrade Dance Festival will award one editorial office an important recognition for journalistic excellence and popularization of the artistic dance in Serbia - "Visa Iskorak". The award was established with the idea of highlighting the dedication and professionalism of reporting on cultural content and giving recognition to journalists who contribute to the artistic dance remaining a topic of public importance.
